Is Swine Flu just another media induced scare?

over the years there has been everything from Ecole from raw fish to bird flu the list goes on, all a bit exaggerated by the media. Every time a new "epidemic" comes out everyone thinks they have it. Is this just another media induced phase or is this the real deal?
