They don't either make or sell the filter for my 3 year old vacuum anywhere. Will another filter work?

I have a dirt devil that uses a F15 filter and we need a new one badly. We don't even have the old one anymore but we can't find it anywhere. I've tried searching online and going to Sears where I've bought it along with any other store I could think of that might have it. Can I use another one? I don't want to by a new vacuum bc I just bought this one but it seems obsolete now. Thank you.
