My walls keep blinking red on the sims life stories?

I've had the sims 2 life stories installed on my laptop previously with no issue. I installed it on the PC and the wallpaper is blinking red, burgundy and black when ever I go to play the game. This also happened when I was creating a family or played one of the already created stories (riley or vince). Any help??
