Has anyone read Laurie Halse Anderson Catalyst and/or Speak?
I absolutely loved both of those books. I liked Catalyst the most even though I cried, but I still think Speak is a good book. I hate how it's written in scrip, however, it does makes the book kind of like a diary which makes it seem more realistic to the reader. A lot of books like Speak that have characters who went through things like that seems so fake, that it was refreshing to see how a 14 year old would take it and how accurate it seemed to be. If you ask me that's probably the reason it's more popular. It might also be because freshman year is when you are more likely to mess up and lose a lot of you friends, so people can easily relate to that.
