How do i color my hair from black to burgundy?

Hi! I'm Indian and my natural hair is black. About half a year I colored my hair rwice out of a box (Revlon) to get a brownish color. The color has grown out a couple inches now. I want burgundy hair now...does anyone know what color I should get? I would get the box that says burgundy, but someone said that I should get a lighter color so the color shows more. I don't want to spend a lot of money and go to a salon, so I would rather do it at home. I just dont know what color to buy. Any help would be appreciated!
